Issue No. 4 - May 2007In this issue:
| Executive Director's MessageWelcome to the fourth e-newsletter of the NSW Office for Science and Medical Research. The Office plays in important role in bringing together the diverse strands of scientific and medical research endeavour in NSW and providing support and an increased public profile for the sector. This e-newsletter is a valuable way to keep connected and I encourage all subscribers to send in their news and events to share with other readers. In this issue, I would like to highlight the 2007 Australian Museum Eureka Prizes, which reward excellence in scientific endeavour. The 2007 Jamie Callachor Eureka Prize for Medical Research, sponsored by the Office for Science and Medical Research, will focus on cardiovascular research. Cardiovascular disease is the largest cause of death in Australia. The health and economic burden it places on Australian society and economy exceeds that of all other diseases. By supporting the Eureka Prize for Medical Research, the NSW Government is providing real encouragement to those researchers at the forefront of the search for solutions. I encourage those of you working in the field to make a nomination for the 2007 Jamie Callachor Eureka Prize for Medical Research and help ensure our NSW colleagues receive the recognition they deserve. If organisations which currently appear in the directories would like to update their profiles, please enter your email address and password on the Health and Medical Research Directory or Science Directory login pages and make any changes to your listing. Alternatively, if you are unable to retrieve your login details, experience any difficulties making updates, or if you would like your organisation to be added to one of the directories, please contact OSMR on 02 9338 6700 or email HMR Directory (for health and medical research organisations) or Science Directory (for science organisations). | ||
