In mid-October 2006, OSMR's Director, Medical Research, Professor Maree Gleeson, leaves the Office for Science and Medical Research to take up an opportunity as Director of the Hunter Medical Research Institute (from mid-November 2006). During her two years with OSMR, she and her team developed and implemented aspects of the Health and Medical Research Plan, including shaping the Medical Research Hubs and Clinical Research Networks in NSW. Maree also oversaw two major medical research funding programs. In her new position at HMRI (beginning mid-November 2006), Maree will continue to pursue her research interests which focus on the impact of respiratory diseases on immunity. We warmly congratulate Maree and wish her success in continuing to build the medical research sector in her new role. |
