Australia & New Zealand Spinal Cord Society 2007 Annual Scientific Meeting (ANZSCoS)Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney The ANZSCoS 2007 conference theme, Maximising Potential for Life, will explore health and social implications of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) and will be of interest to consumers, as well as spinal researchers and clinicians. While places are limited, the following events are open to the public, and will be of particular interest to sufferers of spinal cord injury and related conditions, as well as researchers and clinicians in this field: Workplace Participation Forum Public Lecture on ‘Spinal Cord Injury – Immediate Care and Long-Term Hopes’ The Hon Verity Firth, MP, NSW Minister for Science and Medical Research, will present an address on NSW Government support for research in spinal cord injury and related conditions. This will include discussion of the soon-to-be-launched Australia New Zealand Spinal Cord Injury Network, which brings together leading researchers, clinicians and key stakeholders from across Australia and New Zealand. Supported by the NSW Government, this network will coordinate research efforts in Australia and New Zealand for collaboration and participation in multi-centred clinical trials in spinal cord injury and related conditions. This will be followed by a keynote presentation by Professor Wing on best practice in spinal cord injury care, particularly immediately post injury and explore emerging treatment options and opportunities to improve health service systems and client outcomes.
