Austrade
The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) is a statutory agency within the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio, established by the Australian Trade Commission Act 1985. Austrade's mission is to contribute to community wealth by helping more Australians succeed in export and international business by providing advice, market intelligence and support to Australian companies to reduce the time, cost and risk involved in selecting, entering and developing international markets. In addition Austrade provides advice and guidance on overseas investment and joint venture opportunities.

Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)
An agency of the Australian government, the ABS is the nation's official statistical service. The ABS produces a range of statistics, including the performance of our economy, the well-being of our population, the condition of our environment and the challenges faced by regional and rural communities.

Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO)
ANSTO is Australia's national nuclear research and development organisation and the centre of Australian nuclear expertise. ANSTO is responsible for delivering specialised advice, scientific services and products to government, industry, academia and other research organisations.

Australian Research Council (ARC)
The Australian Research Council is a statutory authority within the Australian Government's Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (IISR) portfolio. Its mission is to advance Australia's capacity to undertake quality research that brings economic, social and cultural benefit to the Australian community and is the primary source of advice to the Commonwealth Government on investment in the national research effort. The ARC supports and funds the highest quality research and research training through national competition in all fields of science, social sciences and the humanities and brokers partnerships between researchers and industry, government, community organisations and the international community.

Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)
The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation is one of the world's largest and most diverse scientific global research organisations. CSIRO is the single largest employer of scientists in Australia, with more than 6,500 people conducting and assisting with scientific research at 57 sites in Australia and around the world. CSIRO works in the following sectors: agribusiness, health, environment and natural resources, energy and transport, information, communication and services, manufacturing, and mineral resources.

Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
The Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry develops and implements policies and programs that ensure Australia's agricultural, fisheries, food and forestry industries remain competitive, profitable and sustainable. Programs focus on protecting the health and safety of plant and animal industries, helping improve market access and market performance for the agricultural and food sector, encouraging and assisting industries to adopt new technology and practices, and assisting primary producers and the food industry to develop business and marketing skills, and to be financially self-reliant.

Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (formed after the 2007 federal election, following a reorganisation of the Department of Education, Science and Technology and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations) provides national leadership and works in collaboration with the States and Territories, industry, other agencies and the community. They develop and implement policies to ensure the continuing relevance of education, science and training to contemporary needs and the growing requirement for lifelong learning.

Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts
The Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (formerly the Department of the Environment and Water Resources) develops and implements national policy, programs and legislation to protect and conserve Australia's environment and heritage and to promote Australian arts and culture.

Department of Health and Ageing
The Department of Health and Ageing is responsible for the development and implementation of health and aged care services to achieve Government policy and direction. The Department aims to be the leader in promoting, developing and funding world class health and aged care services for all Australians.

Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research
The Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (formed after the 2007 federal election, following a reorganisation of the Department of Education, Science and Technology and the Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources) encourages the sustainable growth of Australian industries by developing a national innovation system that drives knowledge creation, cutting edge science and research, international competitiveness and greater productivity. The Department provides policy advice to its Ministers and the Government, administers legislation, manages programs, undertakes analysis, and provides services and advice to the business, science and research community.

National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)
The National Health and Medical Resarch Council is Australia's peak body for supporting and funding health and medical research, developing health advice for the Australian community, health professionals and governments, and for providing advice on ethical behaviour in health care and in the conduct of health and medical research. It brings together and draws upon the resources of all components of the health system, including governments, medical practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals, researchers, teaching and research institutions, public and private program managers, service administrators, community health organisations, social health researchers and consumers.
