2007 Spinal Exchange Program Visiting Fellow
The 2007 Spinal Exchange Program welcomed A/Professor Edelle Field-Fote, a recognised world leader in spinal cord injury and Director of the Neuromotor Rehabilitation Research Laboratory at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis for a six-week Visiting Fellowship in NSW during July and August 2007.
Professor Field-Fote specialises in task-practice training and the development of functional electrical stimulation methods for building optimal movement and sensation in people with spinal cord injury.
During her stay, Professor Field-Fote was involved in a range of activities including student and academic lectures, spinal unit visits and training workshops, researcher and clinician seminars, and a consumer forum entitled “Recovery, Regeneration, Restoration: The Frontiers of Spinal Injury Research”, which took place on 17 August 2007.
The Spinal Exchange Program is a collaborative initiative of the NSW Office for Science and Medical Research, the WorkCover Authority of NSW and the NSW Motor Accidents Authority.
