Spinal Cord Injury and Related Neurological Conditions Research Grant Program

The NSW Spinal Cord Injury & Related Neurological Conditions Research Grants Program (Round 4) provided competitive funding for three Research Fellowships and three Travel Scholarships for NSW researchers to develop their research careers.

NSW Spinal Cord Injury & Related Neurological Conditions Research Fellowships provide the following support:

• Career Development Fellowship – research funding of up to $200,000 per annum for three years for researchers who have at least 4 and less than 10 years post-doctoral experience and have undertaken doctoral thesis or postdoctoral research.
  
• Clinical Research Fellowship – research funding of up to $200,000 per annum for three years for research that involves contact with patients or has a direct link to patient outcomes. This Fellowship is open to medical graduates, allied health professionals, nurses and other health professionals with an appropriate doctorate degree.

NSW Spinal Cord Injury & Related Neurological Conditions Travel Scholarships provide the following support:

• Four Travel Scholarships – up to the maximum value of $5,000 are open to research students at the stage of submitting, or who had submitted their doctoral thesis within the last twelve months, having completed the majority of research undertaken towards their doctoral thesis at a university or research institute in New South Wales.

A review of the NSW Spinal Cord Injury and Related Neurological Conditions Research Grants Program was conducted in 2008 to determine the outcomes achieved from the Program and to make recommendations to the NSW Government on the future provision of grant support under the Program.
