Cooperative Research Centres

1. NSW Cooperative Research Centres Bid Support Program

The Department of State and Regional Development will provide support and funding through the CRC Bid Support Program to assist CRC consortia to prepare competitive proposals during the 2009 CRC round(s). This follows the release of the new CRC guidelines announced by the Federal Government on 28 November 2008.

The NSW CRC Bid Support Program provides the following support:

1.1. CRC Bid Support Funding

Grants of up to $30,000 are provided to assist NSW applicants to fund the preparation of their Commonwealth CRC bids.

The Grants may be used to fund activities including analyses of research impacts and economic modelling; sourcing of legal, governance, taxation and commercialisation advice, and convening stakeholder and partner meetings, and for interview preparation.

The successful consortia and level of NSW CRC Bid Support Grant funding will be determined on a competitive basis. Only those consortia bidding for a new CRC that will be headquartered in NSW will be eligible for funding.

The Guidelines for Applicants and the Application Form are available here.

Applicants wishing to receive NSW CRC Bid Support funding in June 2009 must submit their applications no later than close of business, Monday, 15 June (see application form for details).

1.2. Interview support

Assistance is provided to eligible applicants preparing for the Commonwealth Government CRC interview process. This assistance includes convening of a mock-interview panel, and facilities in which to conduct the mock interview.

2. Science Leveraging Fund

Funds from the SLF are available for Cooperative Research Centres with their headquarters and/or approximately 40% (or more) of their research presence in NSW. Those consortia bidding for a new CRC or an extension CRC are eligible to apply.

Funding is decided on a competitive basis, and supports the activities of CRCs that are successful through the Commonwealth process.

The SLF grants provide funding for CRCs to support research activity, equipment, staff and students located in NSW.

The Guidelines for SLF Applicants and the SLF Application Form are available here.

Applicants wishing to receive an SLF Grant during Round Eleven must submit their applications no later than close of business on 17 June 2009 (see application form for details).

*The Department of State and Regional Development meeting room facilities are also available to bidding CRCs. Please contact the CRC Liaison Officers for further information.
